My name is Sheila Maycock, I'm a Family Therapist.

My special areas of interest include family conflict, separated and blended families, childhood trauma, carers and domestic abuse (including direct work with perpetrators).

Family therapy helps families to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, understand each others views, appreciate each others needs, build on strengths, emerge from trauma and make useful changes.

The problem is the problem - not the person. In family therapy we don't lay the blame on anyone. My role is to be curious, asking questions to help you as a family, to appreciate what goes well and work out how things could happen differently when problems hit.

My Clinical Areas of experience and expertise are working with Families, Young People and Children

I have recent experience of working for Relate and in a school setting with families. I have prior experience of working with individuals in private practice and in a GP surgery and as a trustee and facilitator for ISECCA, a charity improving self esteem and self efficacy by utilising cognitive self image psychology (positive psychology).
