Frequently asked questions
What happens in a counselling session?
Your first counselling session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. You'll have the chance to talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and discuss your goals. There is no pressure to share everything straight away – sessions move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
How long does counselling take?
There is no set number of counselling sessions, as everyone's needs are different. Some people benefit from short-term support over a few weeks, while others choose longer-term counselling to explore more complex experiences. Your therapist will regularly review your progress with you to ensure you're receiving the support you need.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Everything you discuss in counselling is treated as confidential. There are a small number of legal and ethical exceptions, such as if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, but your counsellor will always explain confidentiality clearly during your first session.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. Alongside face-to-face counselling at our welcoming Broadstone practice, we also offer secure online counselling sessions for children, teenagers, adults and families where appropriate. This provides greater flexibility for those who are unable to attend in person.
How do I choose the right therapist?
Finding the right therapist is an important part of the counselling process. At ReWellness, we'll take the time to understand your needs and match you with the counsellor whose experience and therapeutic approach best suits your situation. If you're unsure who would be the best fit, we're always happy to guide you.
