About
about Hi, I’m Malin Backero, a Psychological and Behavioural Practitioner based in Broadstone, Poole. I work with *children, young people, and adults*, offering a safe, non-judgemental space to explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and make meaningful changes. My approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, helping clients of all ages build resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and have over five years’ experience as a school counsellor in Sweden, where I supported children and families with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges. Since moving to the UK, I have expanded my practice to include both young people and adults, continuing to use psychological and behavioural interventions tailored to each client’s needs. My work draws on a range of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation. I am passionate about helping individuals understand themselves better and create positive, lasting change in their lives.

Clinical Background
I have spent over five years working as a school counsellor in Sweden, supporting children and young people through many different challenges. During that time, I helped them find ways to cope, build confidence, and develop a stronger sense of who they are. I also completed further training in gender equality, integration, migration, and refugee issues, which has helped me to offer support that is inclusive and sensitive to different cultural experiences. Alongside my professional work, I have volunteered as a safe person for children through social services, which strengthened my belief in the importance of providing stability, understanding, and care for young people who may feel vulnerable.
Throughout my work, I’ve supported young people experiencing anxiety, depression, and low mood, as well as those finding school life difficult, including situations like school refusal. I’ve also worked with young people exploring their identity or adjusting to new cultural experiences. No matter the situation, my priority is always to create a safe and welcoming space where each young person feels heard, understood, and supported as they discover new ways to move forward with confidence.
