About
Hello, I’m Mark Henwood and I joined the ReWellness team in 2026, following 4 years working for specialist Children and Young People’s (CYP) Counselling services in local schools in Bournemouth as well as spending a year and a half working for a local trauma-informed agency working with adult clients who have experienced abuse-based trauma.
I am a qualified secondary school teacher and have worked in the Education industry for over twenty years. I have come to counselling
later in my career and qualified as a BACP Registered counsellor in 2021.
As part of my work with a national counselling charity, I completed a higher level CPCAB level 5 qualification in CYP counselling along with CBT informed training in working with anxiety and depression and solution-focused work.
My work in schools has enabled me to build experience around a wide variety of client needs including, attachment traumas, resilience, grief, low mood, managing recovery from self-harm, understanding the impact of bullying and building self-esteem.
My work with adults has enabled me to build experience around working with relationship trauma, understanding the impact of trauma on self, building awareness of traumatic responses and developing tools and routines to continue to grow beyond trauma.
Over the last three years, I have completed further training including in the areas of Christian Counselling and Grief. I maintain appropriate safeguarding training.

Clinical Background
My core training and approach to counselling is Humanistic, which allows the client to develop their own processing and response to
whatever their need is, through the space and relationship we build together in the counselling room. My approach is also integrative, which means I may incorporate a range of theory-based practices in the counselling room where agreed, including Trauma-informed approaches, CBT informed activities amongst others and, for children, Play-Therapy.
