About
Hello, I’m Sheila Maycock, a Senior Therapist specialising in family therapy, parenting and adult therapy. My areas of focus include family conflict, separated and blended families, parenting challenges, childhood trauma within the family system, carers, and domestic abuse (including direct work with perpetrators).
With many years of clinical experience, I have worked extensively with families, parents, and adults in settings such as Relate, schools, GP practices, private practice, and the charity sector. I believe that “the problem is the problem – not the person.” In family therapy, we don’t lay blame on individuals; instead, I work with families and adults to strengthen relationships, rebuild trust, and find new ways forward.
Online Therapy with Sheila
I work exclusively online, offering therapy that is just as effective and collaborative as face-to-face work — with the added benefit of flexibility and accessibility.
Choosing online therapy with me means you can:
✔ Bring together family members wherever they live, without the stress of travel
✔ Access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home
✔ Fit sessions around work, parenting, and busy schedules
✔ Maintain continuity and flexibility during times of change or crisis
Many families and adults I work with find that online therapy allows for greater openness, convenience, and long-term consistency.
How I Work
My approach is systemic and integrative, drawing on systemic family therapy and humanistic frameworks. I am collaborative and non-judgemental, creating a safe space where individuals and families can:
- Express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely
- Gain understanding of each other’s perspectives
- Build on strengths to navigate conflict, parenting pressures, or trauma
- Work out healthier ways of responding to challenges together

- Parenting support – navigating challenges and strengthening family dynamics
