Jess Parnell

About
Hi, I’m Jess Parnell. I’m an art psychotherapist specialising in dynamic art psychotherapy, working with both adults and children. I believe creativity can support forms of expression beyond words, helping people explore feelings and experiences that may be difficult to articulate.
I work from a trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective, with strong awareness of diversity and neurodivergence.
My background as a practising artist, alongside my clinical training, informs the way I work. I offer a supportive space where image-making and creative processes can help people reflect on and make sense of their inner experiences.
I have experience working with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and psychosis. I integrate mindfulness-based approaches to help regulate the nervous system, alongside somatic awareness to support a stronger connection between mind and body. I work with both adults and children, adapting the process to suit each individual. With children, this may involve more play-based and non-verbal approaches; with adults, it often includes reflective work through images and dialogue.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic thinking. I aim to provide a consistent and thoughtful space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace.
At ReWellness, I am committed to supporting people in developing greater awareness, resilience, and a sense of agency in their lives.

Clinical Background
I have experience working therapeutically with both adults and children across a range of settings, supporting a variety of emotional and psychological needs. Providing both group and one-to-one art therapy in SEN and alternative school settings, working with neurodivergent children and young people, as well as facilitating parent-child therapeutic work. This developed my ability to engage creatively, build trust, and adapt interventions to a wide range of developmental and emotional needs.
I am also a highly experienced addiction counsellor with over eight years’ clinical practice within a residential addiction treatment setting, in one of the UK’s leading specialist providers. Extensive experience working within the Minnesota Model, delivering abstinence-based, 12-step informed treatment. Specialist knowledge in; complex trauma, dissociation and attachment.
My work integrates creative practice with clinical understanding, alongside mindfulness and somatic approaches to support regulation and emotional processing.
